Leveraging OPM’s Flexible Hiring Authorities
It’s no secret that how well the federal government runs is directly related the quality of its workers. In order to find and hire them, HR personnel need extensive knowledge of the rules and regulations surrounding the government’s complex hiring procedures.
Mary Lou Lindholm, former associate director for employment at the Office of Personnel Management, will speak about leveraging OPM’s flexible hiring authorities at the next Monster Government Solutions Breakfast seminar, to be held on March 18, 2004 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.
At the seminar, Lindholm will explore three main points, including using category rating instead of “the rule of three,” approximating select candidates through direct-hire procedures, and reimbursing the cost of academic training. Lindholm will also share examples of agencies with recruiting successes using hiring flexibilities.
“QuickHire and Monster Government Solutions have long enjoyed a close working relationship with Mary Lou Lindholm,” said Chris McCarrick, General Manager of QuickHire. “We are thrilled that Mary Lou has offered to share her wealth of knowledge with our customers and others in the Federal HR community.”
A highly respected executive with a distinguished career in personnel management, Lindholm founded her own management consulting firm after retiring from civil service. The firm draws on her more than 30 years of providing innovative and creative solutions to organizational, technological and human resource management issues in the public sector. She serves as a consultant, lecturer and service provider to both public and private sector clients, as well as acting as a senior consultant for the National Academy of Public Administration.
